What is Asiatic archery?
Asiatic archery was practiced throughout Eurasia by various cultures and includes archers shooting from the ground and horseback. Instead of using three fingers to draw the bow, most archers use their thumb to draw the string back.
Workshop and lesson
During this lesson and workshop, we’ll teach you how to shoot an Asiatic bow using the thumb draw technique. We’ll give a brief overview about the history of Asiatic archery, and how to shoot with your thumb. We’ll bring in replicas of historical equipment including bows, a shield, quivers, and targets for you to view. With Asiatic archery, the arrow will be shot with the arrow placed on the outside of the bow.
We’ll have loaner equipment including bows, leather thumb tabs, thumb rings, and protective gloves to use. If you own your own Asiatic bow and equipment, bring it to the lesson and workshop.
Space and fee
Fee for the class and workshop is $35 per person. This class is limited to 10 people.
